FALL is arriving and soon WINTER will have us in a CHILL
October has arrived, with all of its amazing colors, and crisp mornings. A few days of warmth to remind us of the Summer days gone by. We know we must prepare, as winter hits with its cold and snow we will want to be bundled up inside the Bed & Breakfast Luxury Roundhouse Grotto Staycation Resort.
September’s end brought to us the Rocky View Development Bed & Breakfast Permit. With the Permit in Hand we can confidently move forward with all of the Inspections and Certifications required to be able to Operate the Bed & Breakfast.
We have accomplished a lot of pre-work, research and have received training and certification.
Pj is now a Certified Pool Operator in the Province of Alberta, thank you Lakeview Aquatics Consulting.
As we move forward the out door yard of the Round House Grotto needs to be winterized; leaves collected and disposed of, summer deck furniture needs to be put away, and some tidying up is to be done before the snow flies.
We will keep our web site updated on our progress with the Fire & Emergency, AHS Food, and AHS Aquatic Certifications.
October 24th 2023
Calgary and Areas Southern Alberta received its first snowfall a mini blizzard, yesterday, all kinds of road traffic havoc. Good planning on the Roundhouse Grotto team to preparing the yard and decks for the snowfall, and to not forget the -10 c temperature.
Last Thursday October 19th the Sprinkler System inspection occurred. The Pump worked! a few other rather relevant items do need attention: Alarm, Sprinkler covers, Glycol and few maintenance items. We should have a list of items showing up in our E-Mail inbox within the next few days. Once we have the list we will know what we have to do to get ready for the Rocky View County Fire Inspection.
With a Fire & Emergency Certificate we can then proceed forward with obtaining a Food Handling Permit which would be followed with our AGLC Application to become a Licensed location, the licensing that will allow us to serve spirits and wine.
A Visit from Richard & Heather B&B Association Calgary, Ab

We were visited by Richard & Heather (By Chance Bed & Breakfast) today, the couple is an important part of a team of B&B Owner Operators that keep the B&B Association of Calgary Alberta Alive, Functioning and an Asset to the City of Calgary. Stan, Ms Stacey and I Peter enjoyed a 2-3 hour visit with the couple talking about the Bed & Breakfast industry overall and locally. Stories of times past were shared and some good laughs were had. The Roundhouse Grotto will be an active member of the B&B Association of Calgary, Alberta.

The First Snow Fall and much cooler temperatures, a reminder that Calgary does have winter. The majority of yard work has been completed. We are almost ready, warmer weather is in the forecast which will allow the final clean up before winter arrives in its full wintery blast.

Halloween at the Roundhouse Grotto was embraced by having a few friends join in some spooky antics. We would plan that 2024 will be much more involved with the guests and community.
