Bed &Breakfast Alberta

June 25th, 2023

All hands pitched in to remove items from the second floor that were a part of Swiatek business history. Stuff collects, especially from a time when every document was on paper. File boxes of documents that were no longer required were removed and discarded.

Ms Stacey and Pj submitted the Luxury Bed & Breakfast Development Application to Rocky View County, Alberta, Canada. Arriving at the Rocky View County administrative building, we entered through the front entrance opening to a great hall, where we were greeted by a friendly receptionist. We were directed to a waiting area, and across the great hall was a administrative area, lets call it a “Bull Pen”.

Within a few minutes we were called to the counter and we presented our Luxury Bed & Breakfast Development Application to the admin staff. After being complimented on the thoroughness and organization of our submission package, the Rocky View Staff member advised us that we would receive a Development File # and an in invoice for the registration of our Development Application. We were also asked to place our signature on a document that indicated that, due to volume of applications received, Rocky View County would not be responsible for delayed communication and/or action on the Development Application. We left the Rocky View County admin building feeling a level of accomplishment by having submitted an application to Rocky View County for the Luxury Roundhouse Grotto Bed & Breakfast, a Calgary vacation stay .

Beach Front Property on the Bearspaw Reservoir

Bearspaw Reservoir is a hidden gem tucked away in N.W. Calgary that’s not only beautiful but a great place to catch fish.

This reservoir is located behind Bearspaw Dam on Bow River. Unless you have property near Bearspaw Reservoir, there is very limited public access. There are both Lake Trout and Mountain Whitefish in Bearspaw Reservoir.

Bearspaw reservoir is a little known gem for a great flat water paddle if you’re willing to navigate a little tougher put in. The reservoir is a long narrow stretch of water that offers flat water paddlers an opportunity paddle 20 to 25 km’s of shoreline.

Bearspaw Dam

The Bearspaw plant was built in 1954, primarily to reduce the possibility of winter flooding and ice packing on the Bow River through the City of Calgary. It was named after Chief Bear’s Paw, one of the chiefs who signed the treaty at Blackfoot Crossing in 1877.

Bearspaw was TransAlta’s last downstream development on the Bow River in Alberta. It is one of four TransAlta hydro plants on the Bow River Mainstream System, which is part of the Bow River Electric System.

The Bearspaw plant generates an average of 70,000 megawatt hours each year.

TransAlta’s hydroelectric plants primarily provide electricity during periods of peak electrical demand and ensure system stability. Their operating flexibility means they can start quickly to introduce hydro power within minutes, balancing out shortages due to unexpected outages, or providing power at times of high demand.
